As part of a proposed new build at the University of Canterbury (UC), BIP worked closely with the UC’s Facilities Management (UCFM) team, the design team and UC’s appointed BIM Manager to learn lessons as the design progressed. A Continuous Improvement Working Group (CIWG) was formed which developed two case studies.
The first case study investigated the use of a cloud-based information environment to allow project participants to collaborate in one virtual location on a common platform.
The second case study investigated the use of a BIM-integrated QS tool to measure deltas in project control quantities and cost rates.
